Proud as a Gunner - April 2008

Bill Merriman - I just wanted to let you know that the Gunners lost 2-1 on penalty shots this past weekend to end their last season together. I will also tell you that each and every player on this team should be very proud of the time, effort and commitment they have given to the Gunners soccer team. This group of players along with all the players that have played for the Gunners in the past have helped to set the bar for Metro teams to follow. I would like to congratulate the Gunners for all their accomplishments over the past 7 years. I know these players that have worn the Gunners uniform are all very extraodinary people and I wish them all the best of luck in the future. I would like to thank all players and a special thanks to Shane Hilder for his outstanding leadership. as captian of the Gunners team.

Captain Shane Hilder - In response to Bill's message I'd just like to say its been an absolute pleasure leading such an outstanding group of young men for the past 5 years. Even more gratifying was leading the team behind such exceptional coaches, parents and our remarkable manager. I think I speak for the entire team when I say most of our fondest memories are derived from our time spent with the Gunners organization. Bill, Christian and Wanda I'd like to personally thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you have enabled me, and the entire team to achieve. I salute you all! Greger, I'd also like to thank you on behalf of the team for the countless hours you've spent documenting games and upkeeping the website. Thanks for everything, Shane.
